The mother goat left her seven little kids at home one day. Before going, she told them sternly about the cunning and wicked wolf. When the wolf knocked on the door, saying he was their mother, they could not be fooled. ‘Our mother has a gentle and sweet voice,’ they said. ‘We know you are the big bad wolf.’
The wolf ran off to eat some honey to make his voice sweeter. But, again failed as his black and hairy paws gave him away! Going to a bakery, the wolf bought a goat’s paw of bread dough. This time, the children were fooled and opened the door. Quickly, the wolf swallowed them all up. Except one kid who hid in the cupboard. When the mother goat returned, the little kid told her what had happened. Off she went to find the beastly wolf and found him sleeping soundly. Seeing the shapes of her children’s heads in his stomach, the mother goat cut through the his stomach with scissors and freed her little ones. She put stones in his stomach instead and stitched it up very cleverly. When the wolf awoke, he was none the wiser, but when he went to drink water, the heavy stones made him lose his balance. He fell into the water and drowned.
The seven little goats grew up healthy, with big horns, to save themselves from wicked wolves.
