It was a hot and sunny day and a hungry fox was looking for food all over the jungle. Soon he came to a vineyard and saw ripe and juicy grapes hanging on the branches. “Ah, I found something to eat at last,” said the fox happily.
He jumped up to reach the grapes hanging high up on the branch above him but failed to reach it. But he was not willing to give up. “I think I must jump higher up to get hold of those tempting fruits,” thought the fox. So he jumped and jumped, stood on his hind legs, and tried to pull down the grapes with his paws, but nothing helped. The grapes kept hanging above him, totally out of his reach.
At last he gave up. He shook his head in disgust and remarked, “I’m sure those grapes are sour. I do not wish to eat them.” So saying, he went away.
Moral: We usually dislike what we cannot get.
